Press Maintenance
Through relationships with various press service providers, we are able to offer comprehensive maintenance, repair and modification services to metal stampers and press manufacturers.
A Japanese law, which took effect in 1982, requires manufacturers to perform a comprehensive inspection to each of their press machines on an annual basis. While enacted as a safety measure, the regulation has effectively provided stampers in Japan with a barometer of press conditions and a procedural means of avoiding future expensive repairs, and of increasing productivity.
Our press inspection methodology is based on that of one of the most experienced authorized government inspection providers. Their inspection service goes far beyond the daily routine or monthly self-inspection that most stampers undertake. We can now offer this inspection service to North American stampers. Using special tools, we will test critical components for wear, inspect moving parts, and measure press components dimensionally to identify potential problems. Finding problematic conditions before failure occurs provides us with the ability to recommend cost-effective repair procedures and to avoid costly down-time and catastrophic repair costs.
Our alliance with our network of service providers provides us with a database of instruction manuals and parts catalogs for nearly 1200 different press machines and 230 press machine manufacturers dating back some fifty years.
Examples of repairs/modifications include:
- Conversion of positive-motion press into air-clutch press
- Retrofit of power slide adjuster
- Installation of hydraulic overload protector
- Adopt a moving bolster design for improvement of die-change operations
- Install Shut-Guard (device for enhanced safety and improved productivity of hand-in-die type manual press machine)
A large stock of spare parts will be maintained for clients utilizing our inspection service. Spare parts maintained are determined through our experience. When we are contacted by a customer regarding a problem with a press machine, our technical staff is dispatched without delay to initiate a solution.
